RUSH ENGINE 3 VISITS THE STATE CAPITAL

Over the last three days, Rush Engine 3 has been on display at the Lancaster County FIRE EXPO in Harrisburg, PA.  Several of our members made the trip south to attend this event and see our new engine on the floor of the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex.

BRUSH FIRE FROM WIRES DOWN WITH REKINDLE

On Friday, April 15, at  12:42, Rush VFD was dispatched for a brush fire endangering structures on SR 3004 in Auburn Township. Rush Engine 4 responded with a crew of five and arrived on the scene to find approximately one acre burning.  Command informed all units to proceed with caution as the fire had started from a downed electrical line that was lying across the burning area.  Utilizing forestry hose, units extinguished the fire and remained on the scene until the power company arrived to turn off the power.  As Engine 4 was returning to service, we were dispatched for a rekindle at the same location.  Upon the second arrival, firefighters found that the power company had not turned the power off before a small section of the area that had already burned was reignited by the still live wire.  Firefighters used a pressurized water can and a bit of footwork to extinguish the second fire.  All units were placed safely back in service at 14:27.

Looking like its Big Brother

On Monday April 13th, Dan from Danz Lettering arrived once again in Lawton to add his touch to Engine 3.  After a couple days, Engine 3 was completed.  Once again, just like its big brother Tanker 5, Engine 3 turned out great.  Thanks Dan.

Worth the Time

On Tuesday April 7th, Dan from Danz Lettering arrived in Lawton for the week to decorate Tanker 5.  After many long days Dan completed the tanker.  We would like to thank Dan for all his hard work and doing a superior job on the tanker, we are very pleased with the outcome.

Four Calls in Four Days

Four calls for service started late last week.  Thursday March 12th at 18:32 Rush Fire and Montrose EMS were dispatched for a one van roll over near Deer Lick, 267S.  Rescue 1 arrived on scene finding the same.  The patient was removed from the vehicle and transported by Montrose EMS to a local hospital.  All units cleared in just under an hour.  Just after 13:00 on Friday Rush Fire was dispatched for a grass fire, Pierson Rd., Rush Twp.  Rush 11 arrived on scene with the fire out, wetting down a couple hot spots.  Units cleared in 30 mins.  On Saturday just before 15:00 Rush Fire and Forest Lake Fire were dispatched for a brush fire Hamlin Rd., Forest Lake Twp.  Rush units arrived on scene reporting the fire out, have Forest Lake continue in and Rush to cancel.  On Sunday, March 15th, Rush Fire was requested for a brush truck by Elk Lake Fire for a brush fire Hunsinger Rd., Dimock Twp.  As the brush truck was responding, Elk Lake fire cancelled Rush Fire.

Sunday Morning Training

On Sunday February 8th several members once again went to the acquired structure for training.  Once again several different evolutions were conducted with the structure.  We will be heading back very soon once again.
